CRUISING CLASS

Friday

(NEH to Marshall Race, then sail over to Brooklin)

  • 10:45 AM Warning Signal from Start Line between Mark GL & RC Signal Boat "Shearwater". *Racing for the Cruising Class during the August Cruise will be scored PHRF - Time over Time.
  • The Cruising Class will then sail an open race track and finish between (R) Hat Island Ledge Buoy 4 & (G) Marshall Island Buoy 3. Competitors may choose at their discretion to either sail to the east or west of Swans Island to reach the finish line. Cruising Class Boats will continue sailing on to Brooklin after finishing (which is just a quick 6.5 NM sail from the finish line).
  • The Cruising Class will use the Kwindoo app for scoring on Friday. One member of each Cruising Class boat needs to have the app downloaded from the app store on either their phone or IPad by at least one crew member onboard (it uses GPS, so cell service is not required). Please take a screenshot of the app right when cross the finish line between (R) Hat Island Ledge Buoy 4 & (G) Marshall Island Buoy 3. If you are having issues using the app during or leading up to the race, then please just record your finish time instead in a corinthian manner then relay it to the RC for record keeping. More information on how to use the Kwindoo app will be given out leading up to the event.
  • Friday's Cruising Class Course Diagram can be found here.
  • After finishing, boats will anchor at the western edge of the harbor off of the Wooden Boat School for the night.

Saturday

(Eggemoggin Reach Regatta, then ERR Party at Wooden Boat School)

  • Cruising Class participants can either opt to sail on any of the Wooden NEHF IODs or other Wooden Cruising Class Boat Competing in ERR. We will also have powerboats from the Fleet spectating that can take Cruising Class crew out to follow the spectacle that is the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta.
  • The ERR Party, Dinner & Awards will follow shortly after the conclusion of racing on Saturday at the Wooden Boat School. Please coordinate sharing dinghies to take to the dock at Wooden Boat School as there is limited space available there.

POWER FLEET

Friday

(Spectating, then Raftup at Brooklin)

  • Please register for the event above. Registration takes less than a minute and is free! You obviously don't have a 'sail number' to input during the final step of registration, so just enter a random number or letter for that field and then you'll be all set!
  • The Power Fleet can decide whether to leave at 10:45 AM with the Cruising Class to spectate or leave later in the day to make the Raftup at Brooklin.
  • There will be a raftup of our Power Fleet next to the Cruising Class & IODs at the Western edge of the anchorage off Wooden Boat School on Friday at 6:00 PM. Members of the Power Fleet can either spend the night anchored in Brooklin or head back to Northeast Harbor afterwards and return Saturday to specate the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta.

Saturday

(Eggemoggin Reach Regatta, then ERR Party at Wooden Boat School)

  • The Power Fleet will specate the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta, which begins in the morning. There's no rush to get out on the water right away as it's a long race with over a hundred classic wooden boats competing with numerous starts. The IODs are the first start, if you'd like to see them begin their race, but you can still catch them on the way out leaving the Eggemoggin Reach as they head towards the Famous Halibut Rocks.
  • We encourage the Power Fleet to bring picnics and refreshments as it is a full day on the water.
  • The ERR Party, Dinner & Awards will follow shortly at the Wooden Boat School. Please coordinate sharing dinghies to take to the dock at Wooden Boat School as there is limited space available there.
  • The Cruising Class will anchor off the Wooden Boat School in Brooklin on Saturday night.

Sunday

(Brooklin to NEH)

  • The Power Fleet can either spectate the sailboat racing from Brooklin to NEH Sunday morning or venture home at their own pace! It's most important that all of our Power Fleet to makes it out to Brooklin on Friday night for the raftup, as that will be the social highlight of the weekend. There is also the option to head back to MDI on Saturday (or even after the raftup on Friday) if two nights (or even one) is too much of an adventure, but we'd also like to encourage all of our Power Fleet to join the ERR Party on Saturday night also! Dinner/Drink tickets for that event can be found here.
