The Northeast Harbor Fleet runs the Northeast Harbor Sailing School. Situated on Gilpatrick Cove, NEHSS offers a safe and exciting learning experience to young mariners ages 6 to 18. Our dedicated and qualified instructors teach rowing and sailing classes in July and August in the fleet-owned RS Teras & RS Ventures, so there is no need to own your own boat. See the Northeast Harbor Sailing School Website for class descriptions and rates.
YACHT RACING & Spectating
The Northeast Harbor Fleet hosts professionally run sailboat races free to all members from June through September. We have one of the finest fleets of cruising class yachts, the largest fleet of International One Design sailboats in the world and a robust fleet of Luders 16 sailboats. All race on average twice a week or more. The spectator fleet of antique wood and high tech powercraft is a sight in itself.
PLEASURE SAILING in fleet owned boats
Members are encouraged to use the Fleet-owned RS Teras, RS Ventures, our brand new 14' catboat Lucinda, and our International One Design, Magic Bus. Go to the Northeast Harbor Sailing Schoolwebsite to reserve a boat. On the day reserved, check in with the launch driver before taking one out.
TWO MOORING FIELDS, FUEL & FLEET GEAR
With large mooring fields in both Gilpatrick Cove and Northeast Harbor, The Fleet offers a variety of mooring sizes for seasonal rental to fleet members only. See Moorings for more information. At the Clifton Dock & Fleet Store, manager Jane Joseph offers the only ethanol-free gasoline available in Downeast Maine, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, June 1st to Columbus Day.
LAUNCH SERVICE - CHANNEL 65
Licensed launch service is available in Gilpatrick Cove seven days a week, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday, June 27 through Sunday, September 6. Use Channel 65. Additionally, the Fleet owns rowing dinghies available to members to use after regular launch hours. There is no launch service out of the Clifton Dock yet, but a NEHF inflatable dinghy is available for mooring renter's use. Fleet members with rowing dinghies, inflatables and other tenders may rent tie off space at either location. See Moorings for more information.
